Santa Vittoria d'Alba

Sembra che il nome derivi dalla vittoria dei romani (402 d.C.) su Alarico, re dei Visigoti: nelle nebbie mattutine i Barbari, scambiando la ripetitiva geometria dei pali delle viti con la regolare simmetria delle lance dell’esercito romano, rimasero confusi e furono facile preda dei romani.

It seems that the name comes from the victory of the romans (402 a.C.) vs. Alarico king of the Visigoti: in the morning fog, the barbarians mistaking the poles of the vines with the lances of roman army, was confused and  became easy prey of the romans.

Reggia di Valcasotto

Ferragosto al castello di Valcasotto.                                                                                                  Questa antica residenza sabauda che faceva parte della cosiddetta "corona delle delizie" era usata esclusivamente come posto di villeggiatura dai Savoia che la acquistarono (Carlo Alberto) nel 1837.

E immersa tra i castagni ad una altitudine di circa 1000m sulla strada che da Pamparato porta a Garessio.

Un posto meraviglioso soprattutto in questa torrida estate!

This ancient Savoy residence that belonged to the so called "corona delle delizie" was used esclusively as holiday place from the Savoy that bought it (carlo Alberto) in 1837.

It's immersed among the chestnut trees at an altitude of about 1000m on the road that leads from Pamparato to Garessio.

An amazing place especially in this hot summer!
